Welcome to the summer 2024 edition of Indiana Tech Magazine! Our annual digital edition includes feature stories and updates about so many wonderful things happening as we start a new academic year here at the university.

Earlier this month, we learned that Indiana Tech was awarded a $21 million grant from Lilly Endowment, Inc. to launch a transformative initiative that will be based at Electric Works in Fort Wayne, the revitalized former home of General Electric near downtown. With the support from the grant, Indiana Tech will collaborate with a range of community and corporate partners to establish a new advanced manufacturing and innovation center located on the Electric Works campus; launch new talent attraction, development and retention initiatives; develop new programs that will support regional entrepreneurs; and build additional services that will help provide students of all ages with better access to training, certifications and degrees.

Learn more about the project in this issue of the magazine and stay tuned for future updates as this exciting project comes together in the months and years ahead.

Main campus is looking a little different this fall. We’re excited that our newest residence hall, Troder Hall, is now open and students have moved into this wonderful space. Similarly, students, faculty and staff members have been happy to make use of the all-new Zollner Engineering Center. This incredible project is now fully complete and would not have been possible without the help of our alumni, partners, faculty, staff and other friends of Tech.

The state-of-the-art labs and classrooms inside Zollner will only enhance the world-class education our students receive in areas like computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, life sciences and more. You can get an inside look at both facilities and catch up with friends from the Tech community on Oct. 4 and 5. Visit indianatech.edu/homecoming to learn more and register today.

All of us here at Tech are proud to welcome two new members to our university’s leadership team. Theresa Law is our new vice president for institutional advancement. Terri will oversee our alumni relations work, and our efforts to build support for our students from alumni, community members, partners and others.

Dr. Lucy Yang is joining Indiana Tech as our new dean of the Talwar College of Engineering and Computer Sciences. Lucy comes to us from Fairfield University in Connecticut. She brings a great track record of innovation, teaching and commitment to students to her work here. Her experience includes developing new programs in artificial intelligence and computer sciences, subjects we are actively exploring for new programs here.

Finally, our summer issue would not be complete without our annual commencement retrospective. Relive the best day of our year with our commencement 2024 feature, which includes photos, a link to the livestream from the ceremony and a recap of this celebration of the many accomplishments of our students.

Thank you all for being part of the Indiana Tech community! Whether you’re a student, a partner, a friend, an alum, a faculty or staff member, you are what makes the Warrior family so special!

Warm regards,

Karl W. Einolf, Ph.D. President
