Indiana Tech has named Theresa (Terri) Law as its new vice president for institutional advancement. Law will begin her service at the university on Sept. 3. In her role as vice president, she will oversee Indiana Tech’s fundraising and alumni relations efforts, leading the Department of Institutional Advancement in its work to build support for the university’s students, programs and facilities.
Law comes to Indiana Tech from New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) in Las Vegas, New Mexico, where she currently serves as executive vice president for student and donor engagement and executive director of the NMHU Foundation. Through her work leading the university’s advancement efforts, NMHU increased annual fundraising revenue from $200,000 to over $3 million and launched its first-ever comprehensive campaign, which has raised over $5 million of its $10 million goal just 19 months into its planned six-year time period.
“On behalf of everyone at Indiana Tech, I’m tremendously pleased to welcome Theresa Law to our university,” said Indiana Tech President Dr. Karl Einolf. “Terri has a long and outstanding track record of fundraising success, combined with a passion for helping students pursue their educational goals. Her commitment, experience, and skill in building support for students stood out among the many excellent candidates for this position and will enable Indiana Tech to reach even greater levels of success in our advancement efforts.”
Prior to her service at NMHU, Law led fundraising efforts at a range of universities and non-profit organizations. She served as vice president for college advancement at Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania, from 2014 to 2015; executive director for philanthropy at WellSpan Health in York, Pennsylvania, from 2011 to 2014; executive director of the York Health Foundation, also at WellSpan Health in York, from 2007 to 2011; director of major gifts and grants for the Greater Baltimore Medical Center Foundation from 2003 to 2007; and development director at Valparaiso University in Indiana from 2000 to 2003. She began her career in legal practice, serving as staff and supervising attorney for Association House Legal Services in Chicago.
Law earned her B.A. in Government and International Relations from the University of Notre Dame and her J.D., cum laude, from Tulane Law School. She was an American Council on Education Fellow at the University of New Mexico from 2023 to 24. Law is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) through CFRE International and has been a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) since 2000, frequently conducting presentations and seminars at CASE educational events across the country.
“I am very excited to be joining the Indiana Tech community and look forward to getting to know all of our alumni, friends, supporters and students,” Law said. “I believe there is great potential to continue to grow philanthropy for Indiana Tech, and great opportunity to help the university reach its goals.”
