Courtney Shull, associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and assistant professor, introduces her best friend Lexi, who she adopted from a shelter in July 2020. “Lexi had been surrendered twice, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out why anyone would want to leave this beautiful girl in a shelter,” says Courtney. “She is smart, loving, and the best cuddler! And best of all, she loves to take adventures we me.”

Doug is a Blue Heeler and Joonie is a 4-year-old Australian shepherd-border collie mix who, according to international admissions coordinator, Alyson Lucas, are thick as thieves. “Since Joonie and Doug are both herding types, they spend countless hours chasing and herding each other around the yard,” she said.

Jamie Eloph, accounts payable coordinator, has two boxers: Layla (foreground) and Remi. Jamie says these gorgeous pups will do anything for treats.
 Harley, Thera Lambert's pit bull terrier, attentively staring at something in the distance from the porch.
Harley, is a female pit bull terrier. “She loves snacks, zoomies, hugs and stuffed animals,” says adjunct professor Thera Lambert.

Admissions counselor Madison Bouwers introduces Cash. “She’s a rescue who grew up with cats, so she’s not super aware that she’s 85 pounds and hopes I don’t notice when she tries to be a lap dog,” Madision says. She’s my favorite roommate and I love her to bits!”

“Captain is the captain of our family and is very proud in his role,” says Takisha Nelson, collections coordinator, about her family’s Maltipoo. “He loves to get dressed and gets overly hyper at the sight of his clothes. He is talented at jumping to extreme heights. He will jump up to the doorknob to attempt to open the door. He has no fear factor.”

Battie is a Shih Tzu, being taught probability and statistics during a pandemic home lesson by Dr. Steve Dusseau, professor of industrial and manufacturing. Dr. Dusseau said, “Chances are, she’s not getting it.”

Amanda Leffler, administrative assistant, has two cats, George and Wolfgang, and a dog, Eleanor. “George is the orange cat: he is diabetic, moody and in charge. Wolfie is a shy guy. Eleanor is very spoiled and desperate for Wolfie to become her best friend,” says Amanda.

 Pride is a full-blooded Boer Goat. “He is the man of the barn, and it is safe to say that our herd can’t expand without him,” says Julie Hendryx, director of human resources. Pride likes licorice treats, rubbed under his chin and scratched between his horns.

Wes is a retired racing greyhound who, “enjoys bacon and sleeping approximately 22 hours a day on the couch,” according to Amber Owens, social media manager.

Abigail says, “She enjoys sitting in the loaf position, playing with catnip mice and shoestrings and napping on throw blankets. She dislikes being disciplined for eating houseplants, car rides to the vet and loud people.”

Harlow (the beagle who is always smiling) and Luna. “It’s really hard to get a picture of Luna that’s not blurry. Usually, it’s only while she is sleeping,” says Julie Farison, creative director.
